This month has been fun, but not too major on the 'milestones' front, so I'll try to keep it short.
Locomotion- Definitely taking lots more independent steps but still prefers to hold hands with us. One cute development is that he is very into somersaults now (which he learned at the Little Gym). He gets into the "downward dog' position and tucks his head into his chest and yells "salt! Salt!" until one of us flips him over. He will flip 5-10 times in a row, until I get too worried that he's going to get sick and make him stop.
Eating: About the same here. He's been very into eggs this month- a new favorite is chawanmushi (steamed eggs)
Speaking- again, more of the same. Recently has been very into farm animal noises. He's also learning to count to 3 in Mandarin (eeee, errr, san)
Schedules: Luca has NOT been a fan of Daylights Savings. He's now sleeping from about 7:30/8 pm to 6:30 am. We've learned he is very dependent on light cues to sleep, so now when he gets sleepy he tries to take us to the darkest area of the house (usually our bathroom) and says repeatedly "night night! "good night!" "bed". Also still 1 nap a day, which ranges from 45 minutes to 3 hrs.
Stories of the month:
1. The other day when I was in the kitchen cooking, Luca slipped out of my line of sight. I absentmindedly said "Luca, where are you?" while looking for him. He helpfully replied "Home!"
2. Joanne tells us that Luca has a crush on an older Korean girl in his Gymboree class(Yoon ho, who I believe is 17 or 18 months). Apparently Luca makes Joanne walk him over so that he can stand next to her and stare at her. On the other hand, she is indifferent to him and somewhat embarrassed by the attention. Joanne has now switched one of his gymboree classes so that they can be together 2x a week. We'll see how it plays out, hopefully not with Luca's first broken heart.
Here he is at the Little Gym:
